A Forgotten Past… A Criminal Organisation… The Ultimate Game Of Death

An anthology of twisted tales surrounding four deadly female assassins and the mysterious, Scarlett Cross. Having suffered a traumatic accident, Scarlett must uncover the secrets of her forgotten past and the violent, brutal destiny that awaits her. As she slowly discovers an evil plot to rule the world, Scarlett comes face to face with the merciless Agents Of D.E.A.T.H., in a savage and bloody fight to the finish!

This fantastic grindhouse Martial Arts movie is a real kick ass nod and wink to old school exploitation movies of the 70's and 80's. Dean Meadows film had me at the very beginning with Maria Lee Metheringham as The Assassin who says 'Do I look like a fucking virgin' before going all Bruce lee on the hooded cult members. and draws us into the world of assassins with style, and I don't mind saying I think I have a movie crush on Maria whose fantastic in the role.

Kat Clatworthy (I interviewed here) leads the films through this anthology as the title character Scarlet Cross and its down to D&D (Dean Meadows and Dean Williams) bringing the action to the screen for all to see and there's plenty of it throughout this feature.

Its a film that has talent on show with the likes of Tayah Kansik as The Bodyguard, Hannah Farmer as The Yakusa and Sky Rose as The Reaper, all bringing strong female characters to life on screen. Fear not, the boys get a mention with David Lee Pickton bringing some light relief as Dick Pipe.

Scarlett cross might have nods to a bygone era of cinema but it brings something fresh to the genre as blood soaked escapism that will entertain you and that's what you want from what is destined to be a cult classic.

This project is like a melting pot of all the genres that have influenced me since I first became interested in cult cinema at a very early age, everything from Hong Kong martial arts movies to European exploitation and horror.
