Ballistic tells the story of Beck (Lamont), as a homeless drifter who learns that his sisters killer (Bryhan) has been let out from prison earlier than expected sending him on a downward spiral of revenge.

A sweeping city shot quickly draws us into the film as were told about the homeless situation and this is the story of one such man Beck (Played by David Lamont) and as far as a synopsis goes you don’t need to know more, as the thriller starts to play out, and hell i’m a sucker for a drama with a heavy dose of incredible action topped off with bloody and violent revenge.

Let’s talk about the lead David Lamont who plays Beck his role and performance is pivotal to Ballistic and I wasn’t surprised when I learned that Director Ranjeet actually wrote this for him (check out my interview with Ranjeet here). David nails it because he gives it that raw intense energy that only comes from putting your heart and soul into a character, which means you will go on a journey with him and perhaps David himself summoned some demons from his past and maybe just maybe banished a few.

The cast is rounded out with the always impressive and talented James Bryhan as The Butcher bringing menace to the screen and with equal talent and brutality Christopher Torretto who has one of the standout scenes that will make you wince at the very least with upcoming talent Poppy Mabel who is one to watch out for and leaves her mark playing Candy.  The cast also has Ryan Noire, Carl Wharton, Phil Mawdsley and many more and here’s an Eastern Film Fans exclusive clip below with David Lamont and Theodore Griffiths.

Let’s talk award winning Director Ranjeet S Marwa whose no stranger to big budget features but here strips it all back to direct, write, produce on a shoestring. This independant film has all of Ranjeet trademark shots, I am always amazed on what can be done on a micro budget, squeezing everything out of it to gives big performances and direction that makes the film feel big and bold, Ranjeet knows how to get the best out of talent and locations with an eye for beautifully crafted shots that defy this features limitations, none of which can be seen, under the expert direction of Ranjeet S Marwa, give the man a big budget now because the man can do magical things with a camera.

Closing this review I’d thought of just finishing with above, but I want to say a big thank you to Ranjeet S Marwa and team for allowing me be part of this production and getting an insight into the dedication, teamwork and hard work that comes with putting a film together.

Ballistic stands on its own merits and if you love revenge films, if you love drama and thrillers that thrill and excite then Ballistic will be a film that you will love. So go support this film in VUE cinemas from 18th October.
